Terms of Use

Bitewalk turns public food and travel videos into maps of the places the creator visited. These terms apply when you use the site at bitewalk.pages.dev and its API. By using Bitewalk you agree to them.

Who runs Bitewalk

Bitewalk is a personal, non-commercial project run by Diogo Brito, an individual. It is not a company, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, YouTube or the creators whose videos it maps. Contact: dmgb.dev@gmail.com.

What the maps are, and what they are not

Places are found automatically from each video's description and transcript, checked against Google Maps, and in unclear cases checked by a person. Mistakes still happen: a place can be the wrong branch, closed or moved, or only mentioned in the video rather than visited. The maps are for information only. Check a place on Google Maps before you travel, and don't rely on Bitewalk for opening hours, prices, safety, allergies or accessibility.

Bitewalk is provided "as is". I don't promise that it will be available, complete or accurate.

Google Maps

Bitewalk includes Google Maps features and content: the maps, place locations and links to Google Maps. Your use of these features is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps / Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You must not use Bitewalk to copy, scrape or store Google Maps content.

YouTube

Bitewalk uses YouTube API Services to read public information about videos (title, description, channel and length) and embeds the YouTube player. By using Bitewalk you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Videos, thumbnails and channel names belong to their creators and to YouTube. Bitewalk links back to the original video and does not copy or host it.

Submitting videos and reports

Submit only links to public YouTube videos. Private, removed and live videos are refused.
Don't submit videos in bulk, automate submissions or reports, or try to get around the bot check or the daily limits.
Reports ("wrong place", "closed") should be honest. Don't put personal information about anyone in the note.
I may refuse, remove or stop processing any video, map or report, and pause the site at any time, for example to control costs or abuse.

Creators

If you made a video that Bitewalk maps and you want the map changed or removed, email dmgb.dev@gmail.com with the video link. I'll act on it promptly. When a video is removed from YouTube or made private, Bitewalk deletes its map automatically within about a month.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for losses that come from using Bitewalk or relying on its maps, such as a trip to a closed restaurant. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Bitewalk after a change, the new terms apply.
