Privacy Policy
Bitewalk has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. It keeps as little about you as it can, for as short a time as it can. This page explains what that is.
Who is responsible

What Bitewalk stores about visitors

A salted hash is a one-way code: it can tell that two requests came from the same address, but the address can't be read back from it. It still counts as personal data, so it is covered here. The legal basis for all of the above is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): running the site and keeping it safe and affordable.
Bitewalk itself sets no cookies and doesn't use your browser's storage.
Services your browser connects to
- Cloudflare hosts Bitewalk. It processes your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the site, and keeps request logs for a few days. Bot checks on the forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes your IP address, browser (user agent) and connection (TLS) details. For Turnstile, Cloudflare acts for Bitewalk and, to improve its bot detection, also on its own behalf. See the Turnstile Privacy Addendum and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps. Maps load from Google, which receives your IP address and may set cookies. Links open Google Maps. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- YouTube. Bitewalk uses YouTube API Services. Video thumbnails load from YouTube. The YouTube player (on youtube-nocookie.com) loads only when you press play, and YouTube may then set cookies or use your browser's storage. See the Google Privacy Policy. Bitewalk has no access to your YouTube or Google account.
- Google Fonts. The site's fonts load from Google, which receives your IP address.
Creators and videos
Bitewalk stores public information from the YouTube Data API about the videos it maps: title, description, channel name and ID, publish date and length. This information is refreshed at least every 30 days. If YouTube stops serving a video (it was removed or made private), the video and its map are deleted. Creators can ask for a map to be changed or removed at the address above.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or object to its use. Bitewalk only holds hashes, so it can usually find your data only if you send the IP address you used. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Bitewalk is not aimed at children and knowingly collects nothing from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
